Katie Boulter, the British No. 1, has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo after defeating former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in straight sets. Boulter spoke highly of her team’s efforts and credited them for her success on the court. She expressed her feelings of having nothing to lose against her opponent from Canada and is now set to face Sofia Kenin from the USA in the next round.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, Boulter praised her team’s hard work during the Asian swing of the season. “Credit to me and my team, we keep pushing and we’ve worked really hard through the Asian swing,” she said. “I’m swinging out here, having a smile on my face and I’m just proud of myself and my team for continuing to push me all the way through until the end of the season. That’s something I haven’t been able to do before, because of my body, so I’m very proud and I’m very happy to be here in the semi-finals.”

Reflecting on her match against Andreescu, Boulter expressed her satisfaction with her performance. “I played really well today,” she stated. “I came out here with nothing to lose. I just wanted to come out and enjoy it. Everything was kind of clicking and, apart from the first service game, everything was really good. The last couple of months I felt like I was very close, but I just wasn’t quite there.”

Boulter acknowledged that her energy levels dropped at times during the match, affecting her decision-making. “My energy dropped a little bit and my decision-making became up and down,” she admitted. “At this level you can’t get away with spending too long in that situation. I’m proud how I dug in.”

With her confidence high and determination intact, Boulter is ready to face her next challenge in the semi-finals against Sofia Kenin. The stage is set for an exciting match as Boulter continues to showcase her talent and resilience on the tennis court.
